During a recent House Oversight Committee hearing on UFOs and unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAPs), Colorado Representative Lauren Boebert pressed a panel of experts on potential connections between the Department of Defense (DoD), underwater UAPs, and alleged secretive genetic projects.
Boebert, who has voiced concerns over government transparency regarding UAPs, questioned the panel—which included former DoD official Luis Elizondo, retired Navy Rear Admiral Dr. Tim Gallaudet, journalist Michael Shellenberger, and ex-NASA associate Michael Gold—on the possibility of alien "bases" in Earth’s oceans. She specifically asked if the DoD was involved in “manipulation of human genetics” with non-human genetic material, a claim that all panelists denied having knowledge of. Boebert also queried whether these experts believed there was a concerted effort by the Pentagon to keep Congress uninformed about UAPs in oceanic environments, to which Shellenberger responded affirmatively.
Shellenberger added that his sources claim to have seen footage of UAPs, described as “orbs,” emerging from the ocean and interacting with each other. He and other experts suggested that these phenomena exhibited technology that seemingly defies current physics or human engineering, although Shellenberger stopped short of confirming the existence of any underwater “bases.”
In the hearing, Boebert vowed to continue pushing for answers, stating that the American public deserves transparency. She later shared on X (formerly Twitter) her eagerness to work with a future Trump administration to uncover information about UAPs that may be hidden due to government over-classification.
This hearing, titled “Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena: Exposing the Truth,” is part of an ongoing Congressional inquiry into UAPs and the U.S. government's level of transparency on the topic. The Pentagon, however, has categorically denied Shellenberger's claims about any secret program involving extraterrestrial or advanced human genetics projects.
